I also ran across this site just the other day of another Thomas researcher who has visited the area.  Unfortunately, I've not been able to obtain an email address for this Gary Thomas yet to compare notes.  I'll be sure to take lots of pictures when I go.

  1. I have been to this location a few years ago. I too am researching James "Speck" Thomas. He is my g-g-grandfather. I am the Grandson of Gilbert Thomas. Gilbert was the Son of Lee Thomas one of James "Speck" Thomas's Sons. I hope this is of help to you. Also, I have started a family research web site for my Thomas connections and also Owens family connections as my father married an Owens. The link to my site is, http://www.k4gap.com/tng

    1. I will definitely check your site, Gary. I've had to put my research on hold temporarily, but I'm nowhere near done. There are so many of us stuck on James "Speck" Thomas. Think we need to start doing the DNA testing soon just for another lead (hopefully. )

  2. Two years ago I bought a one year subscription to Ancestry.com thinking I would surely find something pertaining to James "Speck" Thomas. All I found was that there were other folks looking for info on him. It surely is a mystery who his parents were.
